I started taking drum lessons in 1962 in the summer following second grade. Later, once I saw Ringo on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964, there was no turning back. I knew it was what I wanted to do. I played in school bands from elementary school through high school and formed my first rock band, "The Whatchamacallits", in seventh grade.
Since then, I've performed in bands covering a range of styles including
classic and current rock, blues, R&B, jazz, rockabilly, klezmer,
folk, funk, and soul in Chicago, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
I relocated to Chicago in early 2007 and I'm loving the music here.
During the past decade, most of my work has been in blues, old-school
R&B, soul, and rockabilly/roots styles, but given the right musicians,
I'm open to trying just about anything. I'm currently playing regularly
with two bands, John
Juul and Friends (electric blues) and Soul
Sliders (soul, jazz and funk), and I also do pick-up with other
musicians in the area.
